A new universe awaits!

Martin

After nearly two years of hard work and quite a bit of overtime from all of us at Simulogics, I’m pleased to announce that will be shifting to the new universe Wednesday, February 3rd. The unfortunate news is that due to increased server costs, we had to reduce the number of users in the initial universe. Over time, we will slowly invite the others. The second set of users to be invited should be in mid to late March.

Those who will be entering the new universe at the start have already been notified via email.

About a month ago, I discussed off-planet commodity exchanges. After quite a few iterations on the test server, Fabian and I settled on another change: orbital local markets.

Flying to a planet and not doing a landing has always been a feature we’ve been meaning to implement in an impactful way for quite some time. That’s one of the main reason the option still exists in the game UI, much to the consternation of newer players. Moving the local markets to orbit just makes sense.

Piggybacking on the ship discussion from last week, Michi and I have come to a consensus that ship cargo sizes and volume need a rather drastic change. We’ve come to the “sweet spot” of a mid-range hauler having 100t/100m3. Starter ships will have 25 of each with the maximum buildable being 400. The intent is to provide players with a sense of pride and accomplishment.

I’m a man of few words, so I’ll keep my update short.

Now that we’re on the tail end of last week’s advertising campaign, I’ve started to look at the number of click-throughs we’re seeing. They’re good, but they could be much better. In addition to YouTube influencers and Facebook, I’ve secured advertising space on both Match.com and Tinder. If history is any indication, we should be a perfect fit. I can’t wait to see the results.
